I wore these while traveling in Northeast China, and they kept me warm! I usually wear size 38 shoes, but with thick wool socks, I recommend going for size 40. As for the slip resistance, the snow there is powdery, so I didn't slip at all, but it can be a bit slippery on icy surfaces.
