With 0.015mm per click and 90 clicks per full circle, it provides fine grind control for espresso and other brewing methods. Unlike conventional grinders where the 0 point usually means burr contact, the Chestnut S3 is designed with a controlled burr gap at 0, making the 0 setting a usable finest grind position.S2C Burr ComparisonBurr Model Click Accuracy Clicks per CircleS2C890 Chestnut S3 0.015mm / click 90 clicksS2C880 X / X Lite 0.0416mm / click 23 clicksS2C660 C3S / C3ESP 0.083mm / click 12 clicksImportant Notes0 Setting StructureAt the 0 setting, the burr gap is controlled at approximately 0.075mm. The burrs are intentionally separated instead of making burr-to-burr contact.Normal Slight Rubbing NoticeWhen held vertically and rotated naturally, the burrs do not touch. At the 0 setting, if the grinder is placed horizontally or turned with strong off-axis force, slight burr rubbing may occur. This is normal and not a product defect.Product Update NoticeLogos, packaging, and product details may be updated by the manufacturer without prior notice. Refer to the actual item received.Cleaning & careKeep it grinding well01 Do not wash the grinder with water.02 Clean with a brush after grinding.03 Designed only for roasted coffee beans — do not grind other items.04 Burr edges are sharp; handle carefully.05 Keep away from children.06 Store in a dry, shaded place.07 Do not disassemble or replace burrs and internal parts without qualified guidance. Please readImportant: Understanding the 0-Click SettingSlight burr contact at the 0-click setting is not, by itself, evidence of a product defect.Every S3 is zero-calibrated at the factory. The 0-click position marks the threshold of burr contact, with an intentionally minimal clearance of approximately 0.075 mm or less between the inner and outer burrs. When the grinder is held upright and the handle is turned naturally and centrally, the burrs should not rub. Bearings and other precision parts necessarily have a small amount of play, so strong sideways or off-axis pressure may cause slight burr contact. This does not damage the burrs or the grinder body.A larger safety margin at the 0-click setting could eliminate this possibility, but it would create a “false zero” and reduce the usable grind range. TIMEMORE chose this fine calibration to preserve a wider adjustment range. It is a calibration trade-off, not a structural or quality defect.
