In 1991, they were extended for use in the public bus system too. While originally standardised in design, they soon featured advertising on one side of the card. Such cards were eventually replaced in 2002 when a new system of contactless smart cards known as ez-link cards were launched.These tickets were part of the launch of the system in 1987. The came in a variety of colours to indicate different fares: adult (teal/blue), children (pink) and senior citizens (purple). Besides stored-value tickets, there were also single-use tickets (green) that were valid only on the day of purchase.
